Section 341 Meeting of Creditors
The Section 341 meeting of creditors, often simply called the "341 meeting," is a mandatory meeting in bankruptcy proceedings where the debtor (the person filing for bankruptcy) meets with their creditors and the bankruptcy trustee. It's a key step in the bankruptcy process, but it's not a formal court hearing, and no judge is present.
At the meeting, the debtor (person who filed for bankruptcy) will answer questions under oath about their submitted bankruptcy paperwork. The debtor may be asked about their property, debts, income, and expenses. Creditors may join the meeting and ask the debtor questions, too. Almost all 341 meetings are held virtually using Zoom.
