What the cases are about
The Omnipod is a tubeless insulin pump worn on the skin. In 2026 Insulet recalled pods that left the production line with defects, and the FDA treated the recalls as its most serious class. A pod that stops delivering insulin can put the user into diabetic ketoacidosis within hours. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a medical emergency.
Who may qualify
- You used an Omnipod 5, Omnipod DASH or Omnipod Eros pod at or just before the event.
- You were diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis and went to an emergency room or were admitted to a hospital. Managing ketones at home does not qualify.
- The event happened on or after July 1, 2024.
- You can identify the lot number, or can probably get to it. The box or tray lid, pharmacy or supplier records, a replacement request to Insulet, or your Omnipod cloud data will usually have it. Contact us even if you do not have it yet.
- For a death claim, diabetic ketoacidosis is listed on the death certificate or shown in the hospital records as the cause of death.
What to send us
- The emergency room or hospital records for the event.
- Anything that identifies the pod: the box, the tray lid, a photograph of the lot number, or your supplier records.
- Any replacement request or complaint you made to Insulet.
- The name of the doctor who manages your diabetes.
One thing to do now
Keep the pod, the box and the packaging. Do not throw any of it away. The lot number is the fastest way to tie your event to a recalled batch.
